Treadmill Trauma!

I came home from a lovely dinner at my parent’s house on Wednesday evening to horrible, horrible news.

My husband has broken the treadmill.

Considering the fact that in less than a week we’ve gone from temperatures of +1 to -10, I was devastated!

I only have 68.5k to go!

I know that I can take to the roads during lunch hour and on weekends (I don’t belong to a gym other than Curves), but I don’t really have the gear for winter running (however it is on my Christmas list). I am going to attempt 8-10km on Saturday wearing a bunch of odd layers in an attempt to keep warm. Any suggestions on what to wear? I have a toque, carpri tights, jogging pants, yoga pants, a windbreaker and various tech shirts, hoodies, and a pair of fleece gloves, along with a winter ski coat liner, but I’m really not sure what to layer on what.

The good news is that we have a friend who sells and repairs fitness equipment. He said that the treadmill may have just overheated and it could be okay … for a while. He is getting us a wax kit (hopefully tonight!) to see if that helps. If it doesn’t, it is likely that the board and belt are shot and the machine is beyond repair.

Sob! Please send some good thoughts out to my poor treadmill.

  1. that sucks, hope it can be repaired! I've contemplated getting one, but thankfully having a gym across the street, it's close enough that i don't need to worry about maintenance of my own. plus, space is a premium in our house! have a great weekend!

  2. Ack, hope you can get it fixed. NOT a good time for the treadmill to break. Brrr!

I'd say just LAYER, LAYER, LAYER. The ski coat liner sounds warm, so it might be good enough with the wind breaker on top (with a tech shirt or two underneath). Can you wear the yoga pants AND jogging pants?
